A SWOT analysis is a way of analyzing a business situation and understanding how it affects (now) or might affect (in the future) your company, project management, business plan, sales etc.
A SWOT audit can be very useful in creating your marketing plan, so that you understand the strengths and weaknesses of your products, opportunities to increase its sales, and threats that could reduce its sales.

I updated links in my article "Sales: Some movies to watch and learn", so all links are working... for now ;) Mostly it was fixing dictionary links for the vocabulary in the article, thanks to the Bing disaster. But a link to thread on "best sales movie ever" on jobs site Monster.com was also broken, as they've reorganized their site. I found and added 2 other lists of great movies about sales. By the way, Monster now has a section dedicated to sales called "SalesHQ". It's got a lot of useful stuff for people interested in sales, on things like résumés, interviews, salaries, commissions and professional development. It's also got sub-sections dedicated to certain fields of sales: I know some of my students work in pharmaceuticals & IT sales (as well as other areas of sales), so I hope this SalesHQ link proves useful for you.
Online book site Booktrope sometimes offers free books, and at the moment they have a free online book: Learn how to give the best sales presentations to the most important people for the biggest sales.
(Navigate with left/right arrow button at bottom of page, or chapter list at right.) Edit (12 Sept 2013): I removed dead links to Bing dictionary and replaced with working links for other dictionary websites. I also removed dead Monster link for sales movies, and added links for 2 other articles on sales movies. Sales is the activity of trying to sell: to convince someone to buy your product or service.
For most businesses, this is their most important activity. No sales = no money! So sales can be a high-pressure job and involve a lot of human drama: a great recipe for movies! As a result, there are many movies in English about people in sales, and watching them can be a great way to learn English AND learn the business (and vocabulary) of sales. "But I'm not in sales!" you might say. That doesn't matter: ALL business is sales. You always need to be able to convince people to accept what you can offer. For example, in a job interview you are selling yourself (your skills, talent and effort) to a company, in return for a salary and benefits. So here I offer some links on movies about the world of sales. Lists/Discussions About Sales Movies
These movies are hosted on a Chinese website and might have Chinese subtitles, in case you don't understand some of the words. (Edit 20/3/2012: these movies might move or be deleted. It depends on the video website.) Some more info on Glengarry Glen Ross: |
